Louver
The Louver are two lamps; a table lamp and a floor lamp sharing similar features and design but different in size. The concept for this project starting by looking into negative spaced shapes within a set of layers. The manipulation of the these layers changed the way the shape/void within was perceived visually. Initial material explorations were made using laser cut cardboard pieces spaced equally and arranged as layers on top of each other. These layers were supported by a central structure that would act as the light source. Deriving from how window blinds act as tool to control the amount of light that is to be admitted in, the overall form translated aesthetically. The slats signify the iconicity of blinds in our daily lives. I decided to use Oak as the as the primary material for the frame and slats within. The slats pivot on the central spine and can be adjusted to desired angles. The wires are concealed within the lower part of the frame giving it neat look making it fit in various setups. The addressable LEDs are recessed throughout on the inner side of the frame and emit a soft light, adding warmth to the space. At certain angles the slats act as an interstice giving off an interesting
type of light, with beams projected on the floor and wall, giving the impression of the sun peeking through.
