Pathfinder Interface
Driving is a skill that you improve the more you are behind the wheel. However, modern cars have advanced technology that automatically corrects any mistakes while driving.
The problem with this is that the driver then relies on the technology of the car to correct their mistakes instead of letting the driver manually do it themselves. This may not be a big problem for experienced drivers, but to new drivers, it can create a false sense of security.
Teens that exit the learning period of driving leave with major deficits and don’t know how to gauge certain aspects of driving. Introducing them to these new, advanced features installed on cars will not result in them improving their driving skills.
There needs to be a balance of computer control as well as human control when driving. My project focuses on designing an interface to help new drivers improve their skills on the road with the help of existing technology.
