Gingko
Advances in communication technology have given us the ability to build relationships from a distance, but it falls short in enhancing them with our closest communities, our families and friends. These platforms have cultivated their own pervasive culture of elitism and self-importance – each seeking breadth, not depth. What happened to the emotionally and spiritually enriching conversations that led us to create deep meaningful relationships with one another?
The losses are immeasurable.
Within immigrant families, these disconnections can be felt on a daily basis: with cultural, geographical, generational, and language barriers preventing them from truly knowing the depths of each other. Gingko attempts to create a sense of connected-ness between past and future generations by curating prompts for personal, unique, and untold stories. These narratives will not only construct an identity for each individual, but also help build a stronger relationship to ancestors, culture, and self.
